Quarry Bank Mill now owned by the National Trust, was built in 1784 and owned by the Greg family. Alexander Greg inherited Quarry Bank when his father passed on and in 1939 Alexander donated the Mill to The National Trust. He was also the previous owner of Ash House Farm that was a fruit farm at the time. The building where the bed and breakfast rooms are used to be the fruit store which is why all the rooms are named after fruit.
When he retired, Fred and Sue Schofield took over the farm and converted the fruit store into what it is today, a 4-room bed and breakfast. Sadly, Fred and Sue decided to retire in 2021, after a lifetime of hard work and we wish them a happy and peaceful retirement. The farm is now run by their son, Neil and their daughter-in-law, Alex who has taken over the bed and breakfast.
